Donation rules
The Oldham Group must follow the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA). In summary:
- Donations of £500 or less are not regulated, but must not be split up to avoid the rules.
- Donations are received by The Oldham Group Party (Electoral Commission registration PP17644); the party treasurer is responsible for checking and reporting them.
- For any donation over £500 we must confirm who you are and that you are a permissible donor — for example an individual on a UK electoral register, or a UK-registered company that carries on business in the UK.
- We cannot accept anonymous donations over £500, or donations from impermissible sources; these must be returned.
- Donations from the same source that add up to more than £11,180 in a calendar year must be reported to the Electoral Commission, which publishes the donor’s name and the amount (not home addresses).
Thresholds as published by the Electoral Commission, checked 23 October 2026. [TO CONFIRM with the party treasurer before launch]
